This book is about an important part of Hopewell's rich history. Hopewell's First Day-Care Center. The kindergarten was founded in 1941 by my grandmother Patricia Louise Ross Pace. The book covers the founding an operation of the school from 1941 until its doors closed in 1986.
The book contains many class teachers' portraits and pictures of the annual performances that Mrs. Pace took such pleasure in producing. Fortunately, many photographs are available as my father was a devoted photographer and the school was featured often in the local newspaper.
This book will be an important addition to the existing documentation of Hopewell's rich historical past. It will be appreciated by the School's alumni, but also by the many relatively new arrivals to our commmunity in our 400th anniverary. It demonstrates and explains in simple language the intricacies involved in providing a sound foundation to the education of many of Hopewell's current and past leaders, community members and business owners.
Robert Pace Traylor, author and son, will be happy to hear from you.
